Administrative Assistant Jonathan Willis was appointed pastor of Prayer of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ on August 31, 2004 and was officially installed on February 5, 2005.  Since that appointment the Lord has proven himself mightily. Through the anointed preaching and teaching of God’s Holy Word, many souls have been saved and lives have been impacted and changed.

 

As the pastor of the Prayer of Faith Temple, Elder Jonathan Willis has devoted himself to continuous benevolent acts throughout the community.  Pastor Willis is an advocate for civic engagement by finding both, innovative and integrative, methods of meeting the spiritual and natural needs of individuals and families in the community.

 

Pastor Willis cultivates leaders in the church by providing experiential teaching and training on community service education.  He teaches leaders how to spread the love of Christ through servicing others, particularly the less fortunate.  He founded the “Season of Giving” campaign which annually serves over 1,000 individuals and families in the Lynchburg City Community. During the season of giving movement the church seeks to identify community needs and use its resources to meet them. 

 

Through the vision of our leader, the church has been able to use our grounds and facilities to provide a safe environment for all local children by coordinating a “Hallelujah Night” block party on Halloween, consisting of games, food, candy, and entertainment. On Thanksgiving, we have been able to open the church doors to serve families in need. In addition to internal works, we have also been able to collaborate with local shelters to provide self-care packages for residents, collaborate with nursing homes to provide blankets for the elderly, and provide gifts for local children on Christmas. Pastor Willis is a firm believer in identifying conditions that are essential to promoting community enrichment and benefiting the greater good for the advancement of the Kingdom.

 

Pastor Willis is married to First Lady Felicia Willis, and is the father of Niyah Marie Willis and Jonathan Willis II.
